I stayed at Blackhawk Valley Campground through a promotional offer from Venture Out Resorts, where I was gifted 21 nights. Before you ever get the chance to experience the campground, you're required to sit through a sales presentation where you're told this is your only opportunity to purchase one of their memberships, which cost thousands of dollars. If you say no, you're told you won't have another opportunity for like 2 years or something. Looking back, I'm glad I declined because, based on my experience, I don't think the campground comes close to justifying that kind of investment. The campground itself isn't bad, but I also wouldn't describe it as a resort. Most of the buildings, amenities, seasonal campers, and common areas feel very dated, and the general store has a pretty limited selection. Nothing was necessarily run-down, but it definitely feels like a campground that hasn't changed much over the years. Again, not worth thousands of dollars, maybe $40-$50/night. The management also left me with a strange impression. During check-in, I was asked multiple times if I wanted help or for someone to back my trailer into my site. I appreciated the offer the first time, esp

Looking for season spot for my family claimed they were giving out 7 night of free camping for visiting there campground. Went there waited 30 minutes till was followed out and was asked if we still wanted the free camping at this point it was already 8:30 at night I politely said no also note they claim they are not a timeshare but wanted 16000 dollars for a membership and annual dues 500-700 dollars yearly. After we explained we were just looking for a seasonal spot. 1-2 hours of my life I will never get back and scam there is no here free camping. Shrek and South Park episode taught me what I needed to know that, that this is a timeshare. This is a timeshare beware!!!!!

Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, squeezing us in last minute after a reservation mishap. The facilities were clean. The river was refreshing. We only got to stay for an overnight, but will be adding it to our visit again list!

Ok, great people work here! The only, even slightly, negative, are the sites are pretty narrow and not angled very well for backing in. The cement patios are nice and that certainly helps with alignment, plus there were employees to help guide while parking. That is truly appreciated as a solo traveler! The location is beautiful, right on a river. They have a ton of amenities; mini golf, disc golf, paddle boards, huge open spaces, a playground, and a new pool will be coming soon. I was able to visit Clinton, IA and find 4 Dambo Trolls! That was the main reason I chose this park. It was a very good choice! The laundry and shower facilities are a bit dated and could use some upgrades, but are clean and functional. I only had 3 nights, but I would definitely return!
